What the service is
WIN by VIN collects records about vehicles into VIN Passports that show where each record came from, when, and the resulting VIN Grade. The VIN Grade describes how much trustworthy information exists, and nothing more. It is not a condition score, a safety rating, a value estimate, an ownership decision or a guarantee, and must not be relied on as any of those.
Accounts and verification
One account can contribute to any number of vehicles. Publishing to the public record requires identity verification through a provider we choose. Vehicle ownership and professional credentials are verified separately. We may lower an account's verification level when there is evidence of misuse.
You are responsible for what you publish. Don't publish content you don't have the right to publish, and don't publish personal information about other people.
Purchases
Prices, what's included and how long access lasts are shown before checkout. Buying access to a record does not make you the owner of a vehicle. Subscriptions renew until cancelled; you can cancel at any time and keep access until the end of the paid period. Shopper Pack credits are personal, can't be transferred, and stay valid while your account is active. A Verified Inspection is refunded in full if no inspector is available in the vehicle's area within three business days.
Win Points
Win Points are a loyalty program, not currency, property or a security. Points are awarded for accepted contributions under the published rules, become available 14 days after acceptance, and are forfeited if the contribution is later rejected or found to be fraudulent. Redeeming points requires a verified identity, an account at least 30 days old and at least 5,000 available points, and is limited to 12 redemptions of up to 50,000 points a year; payments by check require a verified owner. Available points expire after 18 months without activity. Win Points never affect a VIN Grade, how much a record counts, or a contributor's profile counts. We may change the rewards and rules for the future with notice. Cash-equivalent rewards may be reported to tax authorities where required.
Bulk import and partner data
Suppliers who publish through the import studio, the API or the command-line tool confirm that they have the right to publish every row and file, that the records are accurate to the best of their knowledge, and that they have identified themselves truthfully. Content read by software stays unconfirmed until a person checks it. We may reject, hold or remove supplier data and suspend partner keys when record quality or rights are in doubt.
Records and takedowns
Contributions become part of the record with their source attached. We remove content that breaks the law or these terms. When a record is replaced by a newer one, we mark it rather than delete it, so the history stays honest about its own changes.
Liability
The service is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions made in reliance on a record. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
